ABOUT THE ORGANISATION: Gladrags is a unique, creative, eco-minded charity providing 7000 costumes to: youth and community projects; schools and colleges; amateur and fringe arts. By providing affordable costume hire, we resource activities that are educational, that entertain communities or that support wellbeing. The recycling and re-use of clothing is intrinsic to our ethos and we actively re-home surplus costumes and fabrics amongst our beneficiaries. We are committed to reaching people who experience disadvantage and isolation, and we additionally deliver a number of transformative outreach activities for young and old alike.

FUNDRAISING & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Hours:  14 hrs a week (flexible working hours)

Status: part-time; self-employed

Pay: £15-£18 per hour, depending on experience

Location: Moulsecoomb, Brighton + remote-working

This exciting opportunity will be key to driving the development of our small charity, enabling us to expand our reach to groups of need and deliver our resources and activities to them more effectively and sustainably.

We are looking for someone with passion and innovation to help us:

  • diversify funding streams and transition from a reliance on revenue and small annual grants to more significant, longer term funding solutions.
  • lead on communications in order to raise the organisation’s profile, promoting a richer understanding of Gladrags’ purpose and maximizing our potential for generating income.

As a new role it offers a degree of flexibility according to the particular skill-set of a candidate and any specialism they may bring to the role. Therefore we welcome applications from those with experience in a fundraising environment both in the  voluntary sector and beyond. The post will require new funding after 12 months.

FINANCE OFFICER

Hours:  7 hrs a week (flexible working hours)

Status: part-time; self-employed

Pay: £14-£18 per hour, depending on experience

Location: Moulsecoomb, Brighton + remote-working

  • We are looking for someone with a positive, solution-based approach to working and an appetite for variety within the role, which ranges from financial management and bookkeeping to bolstering our customer-facing systems. Working within a small team at Gladrags, the role encompasses a broad range of tasks, carried out on a small scale in line with our size as an organisation. These include:

  • managing accounts payable and receivable
  • attending to financial records and processing payroll
  • providing financial information and reports to staff and the Trustee board
  • developing systems that improve the efficiency of customer-facing procedures


You would have workplace experience in book-keeping and financial reporting and have the skills to contribute at an operational level. There is scope for the role to develop into a Finance and Operations position, incorporating HR, IT or Office Management functions, depending on the skill set, interests and development goals of the candidate.
